GES Cautions Against Exam Malpractice as 35,893 Students Begin 2025 BECE in Northern Region

A total of 35,893 students from both public and private schools across all 16 districts in the Northern Region are sitting for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) which started on 11th June, 2025. This includes 18,647 boys and 17,246 girls, who are taking the exams at 128 designated centers, under the watchful supervision of 1,262 invigilators.

As part of efforts to ensure a smooth and fair process, Dr. Issahaque Munawaru, Acting Deputy Director-General for Quality and Access at the Ghana Education Service (GES), and the Northern Regional Director of Education, Alhassan Alidu, visited several centers including Ghana SHS, Vittin SHS, and St. Charles Minor Seminary SHS.

During his visit, Dr. Munawaru offered words of encouragement to the candidates and urged them to remain focused and rely on their own efforts. He cautioned against using any unauthorized materials, stressing that such actions could lead to serious consequences.

He also reminded teachers and invigilators of their professional responsibility to maintain the integrity of the exams. “Let’s all do the right thing. There will be zero tolerance for exam malpractice, whether from students, teachers, or invigilators,” he emphasized.

The visit served as both a morale booster for the students and a reminder to all stakeholders to uphold the values of fairness and discipline throughout the examination period.
