NEED TO REVIEW LICENSURE EXAMINATION
Please note that there is no teacher training colleges or colleges of Education licensure examination. It is constructed by a consultant under the auspices of the National Teaching Council (NTC) as provided for by the pre-tertiary education Act(Act 778), 2008, and Education Regulatory Bodies Act( Act 1023),2020. But the argument can be made without political obsession. That is to ask, why recruit teacher trainees, train them for two years, three years or four years,only to abandon them thereafter because they failed one standardized test.
The disadvantages of standardized in determining the faith of students is s subject for another day’s discussion. So, let us please find out why we should not ensure that prospective teachers write entrance examination before entry into the training institutions.
Remember there is a world of difference between a prospective teacher trainee who fails to enter the training school and one who enters and writes class tests, quizzes, mid semester, examination and project work after training, only for one examination called licensure exam to deny him or her opportunity to be employed or to practice?.
